They say Nayarit & Punta de Mita is like a Mexican Malibu for great surfing, it has been told that all year around you can get swells from every direction here in this part of Mexico. The surf season in Mexico is winter November through March and the summer season is April through October. In Punta Mita the beaches are uncrowded and many hot spots can only be reached by boat. The weather and waters are warm from the mid 70’s to mid 80’s Fahrenheit, in the winter months some surfers have reported riding waves from 2’ to 10’ ft high and average size during the summer months is 3’ to 5’ high. Here is a list of some of the hot spots to surf on Punta Mita The Cove & El Faro, which is approximately a 40 minute walk from Punta Mita, El Anclote is a good spot for beginning surfers, with shallow, slow and long tides. La Lancha is good for right point surfers, Sayulita is a spot good for short boards or long boards however it can get crowed with tourist. La Caleta is for the left point, the Matenchen Bay has some of the longest ridable waves in Mexico like a mile long according to some. Mari Dmowski
