In order to stay safe in the water while surfing there are some basic rules every beginner surfer should know. When first trying out surfing it is recommended that you always surf accompanied and never alone it is good for safety reasons and surfing alone at the beginning can be boring. Beginners should get in the habit of always wearing a leash tied to their ankle or leg rope and have it tied to their board. A nose guard is recommended to because since you don’t have total control of the board as of yet it is very possible that the tip of the board can cause injury, even experienced surfers use these as a precaution. I know it is not very common for surfers to wear helmets but some manufacturers produce and sell surfing helmets something to consider when starting the water sport. Beginners should also wear a tee-shirt, vest or rash guard to avoid the rash they will get on their stomach and chest from their bodies rubbing up against the board. It is recommended that you keep a safe distance between you and other surfers and swimmers.
