This is the million dollar question, everyone asks when they are either buying a Mercury Verado or buying a boat that already has one. If the Verado is well maintained and serviced on the specified dates than the motor should have a 3,000 hour capability. If you are looking at an engine with lots of hours on it and only 2 years old it is probably better than the older engine that has less hours on it because its usually the parts corroding or falling apart due to their age that makes the repeated issues occur. It is very important to ask the seller of a Verado or any other engine for the service logs and see if the owner has done the correct service it is very important. Hopefully your Verado lasts as long as possible, but you have to take care of it or buy a well serviced engine.
