On October 20-22nd is the Pleasure Island Fall Surf Fishing Challenge in Pleasure Island, NC. Anglers wanting to participate must register and pay the entry fee of $60 if paid prior to Oct. 9th and $70 there after online or by mail, all anglers will receive a wrist band. According to the fishermanspost.com the actual fishing will begin promptly at 12:00 midnight on Friday and will end Sunday at 12:00 noon. There will be three weigh in locations one in freeman Park, Island Tackle & Hardware and south end on the beach all fish must be weighed in by noon on Sunday. Anglers are allowed two rods per person, there are three angler categories the junior who is 14 or younger, the Lady angler 18 or older and the senior angler male 60 plus. Cash prizes are awarded based on the heaviest weighed fish, fish species are Bluefish, Trout, Flounder, Pompano, Black Drum and Sea Mullet the heaviest top five places will win cash payouts ranging from $2,000 to $50. Not only is the tournament fun it also benefits those in need through programs that help those in the community less fortunate such as the First Fruit Ministries.
